See Better, See Comfortably

LaFerla Family Eye Care is all about making sure your contact lenses correct your vision and feel completely comfortable all the time. Whether you are seeking a full-time corrective solution or a part-time alternative to eyeglasses, our approach is thorough.

Comprehensive contact lens exams get us familiar with your eyes’ shape to help us select the best type of lens for your unique visual needs. There’s so much to see, so let’s make sure you’re viewing it all in comfort.

Steps for Contact Lens Success

Finding contact lenses that will correct your vision and keep your eyes comfortable requires a thorough examination from our doctors. To ensure your contacts are right for you and your needs, there are several steps we will take during the contact lens process:

  1. Comprehensive eye exams determine your overall eye health and prescription—this prescription may be different than your eyeglasses Rx.
  2. Contact lens evaluations ensure that the fit of your lenses provide optimal comfort, vision and ocular health, making a big difference in how you see the world.
  3. A trial period can help you see how your contact lenses perform on a regular basis.
  4. Follow-up exams ensure your contacts are performing the way we expected. If there happens to be a problem with your lenses, we will reassess your needs and find a better solution.

Choosing the Right Lenses

Choosing the right type of contact lens is dependent on your vision needs and the shape of your eyes. LaFerla Family Eye Care offers a selection of contact lens types to correct a variety of visual conditions, including keratoconus. Speak to our optometrists about the options that interest you!

Soft Lenses

Soft lenses are a choice for patients without complicated prescription issues. Soft contacts come in a variety of disposal formats, including daily, bi-weekly, and monthly.

Rigid gas-permeable (RGP) lenses are hard lenses that are more durable and can help provide a solution for patients with mild astigmatism.

Toric lenses can help correct astigmatism. These lenses are weighted to rest on the eye at a specific orientation and customized to the shape of the wearer’s cornea.

CooperVision MiSights contacts are daily-wear contact lenses that help slow the progression of myopia. MiSight lenses were developed to correct children’s distance vision and control myopia. The lenses use advanced technology to focus peripheral light in front of the retina, which can slow irregular eye growth.

Scleral lenses are a great choice for patients with chronic dry eyes or keratoconus, irregular astigmatism, and irregular corneas. A scleral contact lens has a larger diameter than traditional lenses, so the lens completely vaults over the cornea, resting on the sclera (white part of the eye). These lenses have a tear-filled reservoir that surrounds the cornea, which can be quite therapeutic and relieving.

Multifocal contact lenses provide multiple prescriptions in the same lens. The different focus distance corrections are designed to help people with presbyopia.
