Our Practice in Kansas City, MO

Dr. Joni LaFerla attended optometry school at the University of Missouri – St. Louis college of optometry where she graduated with honors. She then completed a residency in ocular disease and geriatric eye care at the Kansas City VA Medical Center. In 2008, she was elected as the first female President of the Heart of America Contact Lens Society after serving 6 years as the first female on the board of directors.

A former collegiate softball pitcher and first baseman, she is a native of Omaha, NE and enjoys spending time with her family, friends and rescue dogs. 

Dr. Teresa Larcom has practiced in the KC Metro area since 1993.  She graduated with honors from both Pittsburg State University and the University of Missouri-St. Louis School of Optometry.  Dr Larcom is a member of the Greater KC Optometric Society, the Missouri and Kansas Optometric Associations and the American Optometric Association.  In her spare time she likes to spend time with her family and spoil her two dachshunds.

Heather has been with LaFerla Family Eyecare since 2019. She is a Kansas City native living right here in the Northland community she serves. She is an excellent resource for insurance eligibility questions and vision care benefits.  When not in the office she enjoys exploring Kansas City with her family, her favorite places include seeing movies at Screenland Armour, First Fridays in the Crossroads Art District and shopping/dining on West 39th street. She has two rescue animals from the Kansas City Pet Project, a dog and a cat. She looks forward to being a part of your vision care experience.

Cameron LaFerla is a college student who works part time at LaFerla Family Eyecare.  He is a native of Weatherby Lake, MO and enjoys fishing and boating.  His passion is training dogs and working with and training facility therapy dogs.  Fridays at LFE are special as Cameron brings one of three facility therapy dogs with him to work.  Lena, Quito and Quinn are the furry members of the LFE staff, and when they are not napping at Cameron’s feet, they are greeting clients with big doggy smiles.
